Originally I posted this back when we first moved into our home. Wow how so many things have changed! However, one thing that definitely stays the same is how much we love our lake!
I am very slowly getting back into the swing of things around here. If you’ve ever moved, especially with young children around the holidays, you know it is quite hectic.
Thankfully we made it through the past few months and are finally getting settled into our new house.
So far we’ve had a blast entertaining, especially with family. This past weekend we celebrated my mom’s birthday and had a blast ice skating with everyone.
It brings back so many memories from childhood when we used to skate as a family at my grandmother’s (Mimi’s) house on Lake St. Clair.
I love how we’re able to make our own memories right in our backyard now. Our lake freezes much faster than Lake St. Clair which gives us many more opportunities to ice skate and play hockey. Unfortunately over the past few years we have had less days of the lake staying frozen 🙁
It thrills me that we can make these memories during all seasons of the year. I can’t wait until summer time. I especially love that all the lake activities keep us active while having fun!
Now for my latest breakfast or even snack…if you’re like my family and enjoy adding some variety to your breakfast routine, check out my latest recipe, these delicious Apple and Cranberry Scones.
Dietitian’s Dish
Did you know that Michigan apples are available from June through August thanks to controlled atmosphere storage?
And not only are they readily available but they are also budget-friendly. There is almost always one variety of apples on sale at my local grocery store which definitely helps with my budget.
As a mom of three children I love that apples are simple snacks, but I also love to add them to baked goods and meals whenever possible. Recently I have been adding apples to not only muffins but also to roasted vegetables and now scones.
I love how easy it is to incorporate apples into many of our favorite foods without much effort.
