These Apple Raisin Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bars are a delicious way to enjoy your favorite fall fruit while eating nutritiously.
Thanks to Michigan Apple Committee for sponsoring this post.
Every year as a family we try to visit at least one apple orchard. This year has been a little more challenging to fit in with all of our extracurricular activities.
However, I made it a priority since I’ve been going since I was a young child and want to keep the tradition going with my own children.
Thankfully we were able to fit in a quick trip this past weekend. Although there were very few apple varieties to choose from. So I had to find out why…
Michigan Apples + Weather
Did you know that apples are Michigan’s largest and most valuable fruit crop? We have a great climate for apples to flourish, however crazy weather changes can affect it as well.
This past spring, in late April, we had a few days with unusually cold temperatures (around 20 degrees F). These temps are too much for apple blossoms that have already opened to survive, leading to the apple crop to be a bit less this year.
Thankfully, there are still plenty of apples for us to choose from at our local grocery stores.
With that said, I can never get enough of making a variety of apple recipes every fall. I’ve made these Apple Raisin Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bars several times already since they are super easy to make.
My kids love them any time of day and I enjoy them as a quick breakfast meal or afternoon snack. These Cinnamon Apple Oat Energy Bites are also a family favorite.
And if you’re looking for a delicious fall dinner idea, check out my go-to one-pan meal — this Chicken Thighs with Fall Vegetables and Apples recipe. It takes only 10 minutes to prep and 25 minutes to cook!
