These Avocado Caprese Wraps topped with a Balsamic Glaze make a unique yet simple vegetarian option for lunch or even dinner!
Caprese recipes have been popular for quite some time now whether it be caprese salads, sandwiches or toast.
So for this recipe I wanted to branch out a bit and try adding some avocado spread to caprese ingredients and wrap them in flatbread.
The balsamic glaze is optional but I highly recommend trying it. I was a bit hesitant to make the glaze but it was much simpler than I originally anticipated.
These wraps definitely have interesting flavor combos but I have to say I’m impressed by how they turned out!
This is the perfect summer time meal, especially if you have a garden.
But if not, you likely know someone who has a garden and would willlingly give you some tomatoes and basil. They both grow quite easily (at least here in Michigan).
And sometime soon I hope to have a garden of our own. For now my parents and friends with gardens are always more than willing to give us their extra vegetables and herbs.
Dietitian’s Dish
Vegetables are often the most forgotten and neglected food group but one of the most important.
This is why I try to incorporate vegetables within many of my recipes or make interesting vegetable side dishes so we don’t get bored. This recipe is a simple way to increase your veggies while enjoying some unique flavors.
And wrapping these vegetables in a delicious wrap from Flatout just makes these wraps that much more nutritious. I used their ProteinUp™CarbDown® Sea Salt & Crushed Black Pepper flatbread this time.
These wraps are loaded with nutrients including 12 grams of protein and 8 grams of fiber in just one wrap!
