Thanks to Michigan Apple Committee for sponsoring this post.

You know I’m all about serving simple and nutritious foods to my family. Well, let me tell you, this easy snack meets both those criteria and more!

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am when I make a new snack and my kids enjoy it! (Okay let’s be real, I’m thrilled when at least 2 out of 3 love it).

And this recipe I’m bringing you today hit the spot!

Now that spring has sprung and things are SLOWLY getting back to normal, we have several kids’ activities starting up. Two kids in soccer (I’m coaching first-grade boys!), one in lacrosse and my daughter is also taking a drama class in addition to playing soccer.

And did I mention I’m training for a half ironman? Yep, with all that extra free time I have! Ha!

fruit

Yup. This will definitely be a busy next few months!

With that said, I still want to make sure my kids (and us adults included) continue to eat balanced meals and snacks. This means having plenty of fruits and veggies in their diet, regardless of whether we’re having an early or late dinner around extracurricular activities.

So, I try hard to change up the types of fruits and veggies I buy along with how I serve them. This peanut butter dip is a great example because I rarely serve dips with fruit.

A New Variety of Apple

I’m thrilled to partner with Michigan Apple Committee this month and bring you this delicious yet simple dip. And, the best part is that these are not just Michigan Apples (which are plentiful), they are served with a new variety.

This new variety I’m serving the peanut butter dip with is called EverCrisp® apples.

EverCrisp® is a new variety of apple which is a cross between Honeycrisp and Fuji, bringing a deliciously crisp juice and sweet flavor balance. And it was actually created to withstand midwest climates.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Midwest, we have extreme temperature changes that are unpredictable at times.

How to Incorporate More Fruit (like apples) Into Your Everyday Routine

Just about any fruit is delicious to eat as is, especially since they all contain natural sugar. But, to keep things interesting and not get bored with the same old foods, try changing up how you eat fruit (and veggies). You may start noticing fruit disappearing faster than usual!

  • Keep a fruit bowl in plain sight in your kitchen. Apples store fine at room temperature, however, if you’re buying a larger quantity, store some in the fridge since they will last longer.
  • Try a new dip (like my peanut butter dip), or this even sweeter caramel apple dip, or pack individual peanut butter containers to dip in when you’re on the go.
  • Add fruit like apples and clementines to your favorite lettuce salad.
  • Enjoy fruit salad not just around the holidays like my favorite ambrosia salad.

Add-Ins to this Peanut Butter Dip

And besides enjoying the peanut butter dip as is, I went a step further and added mini chocolate chips to it. The kids were thrilled! And besides chocolate chips there are lots of other add-in options:
