These super simple meals for new moms are no fuss easy meal ideas designed to help you care for a newborn while not stressing over what to make for dinner!
I met up with a friend last week who recently had a baby and she was stressing over what to make for dinner for her family. While we were at the park I was brainstorming simple meal ideas with her to help ease the burden of making dinner with a newborn (and preschooler) at home. Of course it’s great when you have friends or family bring over meals for you but that only happens a few times and then what?!
Here are some of my favorite no-fuss meal ideas. Some take a little prep work like chopping vegetables, but that can be done at a different time than cooking the meal (like in between feeding your newborn). You may also notice that some of my ideas include canned or jarred foods. Yes, I also cook with some of these from time to time because I too need no-fuss meals and want to get dinner on the table asap. And having a newborn only lasts so long, so new moms, take a deep breath and try to relax. I know it feels like a long haul until your baby is sleeping through the night, but trust me, it does end and sometimes goes by quicker than you think!
My Favorite No-Fuss Simple Meal Ideas
Sloppy Joes: add 1 can sloppy joe sauce to 1 pound ground beef or turkey and cook until meat is browned; serve on hamburger buns with raw vegetables + hummus.
Roasted Chicken Sausage and Vegetables
Light Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and Broccoli: cook chicken breasts ahead of time; microwave broccoli until tender; boil fettuccine noodles, add Light Fettuccine Alfredo sauce (in a jar), chopped chicken, steamed broccoli and cooked noodles in a skillet until warmed thoroughly.
Slow Cooker Hawaiian Barbecue Pulled Pork
Vegetable Egg Scramble: sauté chopped onions, peppers; add beaten eggs and cheese until cooked thoroughly.
Sandwiches: Grilled Ham and Cheese, Grilled Havarti, Turkey and Spinach Panini, quesadillas
Slow Cooker Hard Root Beer Pulled Pork
