This Slow Cooker Cranberry Apple Stuffing is a great way to add some variety to your Thanksgiving dinner. And it gives you a few tasty new ingredients added to your traditional stuffing recipe!
For the past several years I have hosted Thanksgiving at my house, mostly to help my mom out since she worked full time as a teacher which didn’t leave her much time to prep for the holiday.
However, she retired last year so she is having us over her house for Thanksgiving this year.
Thankfully this is the case because we are moving into our new house the week after Thanksgiving!
As a food blogger, I love trying to add some variety to traditional recipes, especially holiday meals.
This stuffing recipe turned out much better than I expected because a) I wasn’t convinced a slow cooker could cook stuffing properly and b) I wasn’t sure how well the cranberries would taste in this recipe, especially after I had tasted cranberries for the first time and WOW – so tart!
Have you ever tasted fresh cranberries? I was shocked how tart they tasted!
Now I love adding dried cranberries to salads and bread, but have never cooked with fresh cranberries until now.
I’m thrilled I did because this stuffing recipe is fantastic!
I personally grew up with stuffing cooked inside the bird, but in recent years we have cooked it on the outside separate from the turkey.
I’m not sure when that started but it’s a good idea because it can help reduce the risk of food borne illnesses.

We make stuffing (inside the turkey) and dressing (prepared & cooked separate) for Thanksgiving! Because...why choose, right? Leftovers for days...
