These sweet Sand Pudding Cups are filled with pudding, vanilla wafers and whipped cream. And make a fantastic sweet treat for any summer party!
This past Wednesday we went with some friends to see fireworks in a nearby city. This was the first time we have taken our kids to see fireworks since they could never make it past 8 p.m.
And honestly, I couldn’t handle them much past 8 p.m.
But these days we’ve had so many friends to hang out with that they are up much past their normal bedtime. So the fireworks didn’t seem so difficult.
Now if only they could learn how to sleep in past 7 a.m. that would be lovely!
Our neighbors who invited us to the fireworks have the perfect spot for watching the fireworks. It’s in a large open field where the kids have plenty of room to play.
It’s fantastic having friends with kids around the same age as ours especially since they play so nicely together. One of our neighbors even brought a life-size Jenja game which the kids got quite serious with (as you can tell by JP’s expression).
I made these cups to take with us to the fireworks and all the kids and adults enjoyed them. However, if you’re like me, and are more of a chocolate lover, check out this amazing Dirt Cake Trifle recipe.

I have seen several variations of this sand pudding on Pinterest but most versions included butter and powdered sugar which I omitted.
Here’s another great option if you’re a fan of chocolate pudding — this dirt pie recipe is a fantastic alternative to my vanilla sand cups.
They are definitely sweet enough with the pudding and whipped cream. And I think they are the perfect summertime treat!
This batch made enough to fill about 9 plastic cups but you could always double the batch and put it in a 9 x 13 pan for large crowds.
This dessert is also perfect to get the kiddos in the kitchen and help make it! My kids also love adding gummy worms to the cups and “hide” them for friends.
